Health Savings Accounts

The statutory amount is the maximum contribution that can be made to an HSA for the year. Taxpayers who are at least age 55 at any time during the year may make an additional contribution. The additional contribution is $900 for 2008 and $1,000 for 2009. The minimum deductible and maximum out-of-pocket amounts are the parameters for qualifying high-deductible health plan (HDHP) coverage.
