  3. On the Main Menu, go to "View past year tax returns in Adobe Acrobat Reader:" under Manage Account.

Before accepting electronically filed returns, the IRS will match the following information with that in your record:

  • Last names of both spouses on joint returns
  • Taxpayers' birth dates
  • Social Security numbers and certain other information
  • Your final step should be to carefully review your return for accuracy and completeness before filing it.

If you're not sure your information on file is up to date, you can contact your local Social Security Administration at 800-772-1213.

What is a Refund Anticipation Loan?

A Refund Anticipation Loan (or RAL) is a loan, made by HSBC Bank, that enables you (if you qualify) to receive a direct deposit in an amount up to your anticipated federal income tax refund, minus bank and H&R Block fees. RALs are generally available within one to four days after the return is filed and acknowledged by the IRS, and they enable you to receive funds, in the form of loan proceeds, more quickly than waiting for your actual income tax refund.

Your Refund Anticipation Loan is generally repaid when the IRS releases your income tax refund. However, in cases where the IRS changes the amount of the refund, or does not issue a refund at all, you are responsible for the repayment of the loan to HSBC bank.

New to online filing?

Why should I file online?

Filing online with H&R Block means you are using technology to simplify the process, improve the accuracy and reduce the paperwork of filing income taxes. With our online programs, you create a username and password and work on your taxes over the Web from work, home, or any computer with Internet access. There are no tax forms to fill out, and the tax calculations occur automatically. H&R Block's online solutions allow you to e-file, or electronically file, your return to the IRS, meaning you get your refund in days instead of weeks.

Plus, an H&R Block tax professional is just a call or click away. You decide how much help you need - simply ask a question, or submit your tax documents and questions over the Internet, and let a professional do your entire return remotely using phone, fax and e-mail.
