What information do I need to open a new account?
You will need the following information for yourself and the joint account owner (if applicable) in order to apply:
  • Social Security Number
  • Driver's license or other ID such as passport, state ID or Matricula Consular Card
  • Employer information
  • Address
  • Date of Birth

Can I open an account online?

How do I make my opening deposit?
Your opening deposit should accompany your new account application form. As explained on the form, you can make your deposit using any one of the following methods:
  • Check drawn on an existing account.
  • Money order or cashier's check.
  • ACH transfer from an existing account at another bank (you must note the bank routing number and your account number, as well as authorize us to withdraw these funds on the new account application form).
  • Transfer from one of your existing H&R Block Bank accounts.

How long does it take to open an account?
We will open your account within two business days from when your completed application was received and approved. We will send your new account information to you in the mail, which will include your account number and instructions to sign up for on-line access to your account.

Are alternate forms of ID accepted when opening a bank account?
Yes. We accept your state issued driver's license or other identification, such as a passport, other state issued identification or Matricula Consular.
